FAQs

Who runs the Make a Will Clinics?
Our Make a Will Clinics are delivered in partnership with Oliver & Co Solicitors, a well‑established Chester-based law firm. They kindly waive their usual will‑writing fee so that the Hospice can receive a donation instead.
Instead of a fee, we ask for a suggested donation: £180 for a Single Will £250 for a Joint Will These donations support patient care at the hospice. For context, Oliver & Co’s standard charges are £350 + VAT for a single will and £500 + VAT for a joint will.
Appointments cover standard Single or Joint wills. If you require more complex estate planning, the solicitor may advise arranging further support outside the clinic.
A £50 deposit is required when booking due to a rise in last‑minute cancellations. This £50 is deducted from your final donation. Cancellations made less than 7 days before the clinic are non‑refundable.
Clinics are held in a comfortable, quiet meeting room at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, Gordon Lane, Backford, Chester, CH2 4DG.
Appointments typically last 1 hour, and run throughout the day between 9:30am and 5:30pm. Exact time slots are shown when booking.
It helps to bring: a list of the people you want to benefit from your will, details of your executors and information about any specific gifts or charitable legacies you’d like to include.
