Spread festive cheer at Chester Santa Dash

Join us for one of Chester’s most anticipated events in the December calendar and to support two great local charities, the Hospice of the Good Shepherd and the Countess Charity.

This event promises to be as great as ever with thousands of Santa’s taking to the streets of Chester. You can run on your own, as a family, with friends or colleagues as a way to support the Hospice and Countess, or do it in memory of someone special.

Each participant (over the age of 5) will receive a Santa Suit and medal. Santa Suit collection dates will be sent out to participants.

We’ll also have a great range of entertainment to keep your spirits high as you make your way around the route.

The dash starts at 10am!

Sunday 7th December

Chester International School, CH4 7AE

Chester Santa Dash is kindly sponsored by the Planaterra bar, The Flat Earth bar & Aaron & Partners Solicitors.

Beyond the fun of this event, there’s a serious cause. At the hospice we’re committed to ensuring that nobody in the Cheshire West & Deeside area has to suffer through a life-limiting illness alone.

If you are able to, please ask your friends and family to sponsor you to do this event. Every penny raised ensures we can continue to provide essential care services to our patients, and their loved ones.

Ready to dash?

FAQs

No, on the day registration is for last minute entrants only, if you have registered online or via a registration form you do not need to re-register on the day. All we ask is that you fill out the emergency contact details on your runner number and make sure this is attached prior to starting.

You will be able to collect your Santa suits from Hospice of the Good Shepherd Main Reception from Monday 17th November (Monday-Friday 9am-4:30pm) and Saturday 22rd November (11am-1:30pm). Or the Fundraising Office at the Countess of Chester Hospital, General Wing from Monday 17th November (Monday -Friday 9am – 4:30pm). Please do not come out of the above times as there may be no-one around to assist you we don’t want you to have a wasted journey. Suits will also be available to collect on the day of the event. You will need to bring along your runner number for each person you are collecting a suit for.

Your registration fee is absorbed by the costs of running such a great event. These vary from buying the Santa suits to closing the roads. Every penny of sponsorship raised is then divided equally between our two charities, the Countess Charity at the Countess of Chester Hospital, and the Hospice of the Good Shepherd. We are small, local charities, and every penny really does help us to continue to care for people in our local community.

There are a few ways for you to raise money for us. The simplest way of raising funds is via Just Giving. Go to the Santa Dash Justgiving page where you can join our fundraising campaign for the event.

Please try to arrive in plenty of time for the 10am start. We would advise at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the event to make sure you are all ready to go.

The Santa Dash route will set off from Chester International School, CH4 7AE. You will pass all of the famous sights of Chester on the route including Grosvenor Park, Chester Cathedral and Eastgate Clock and the River Dee.

Sorry, no. The Chester Santa Dash isn’t run by an events company, it’s run by us – the charities. It takes a lot of hard work to put on the Chester Santa Dash, and we need all the sponsorship money raised to benefit both the Hospital and the Hospice.

The Chester Santa Dash is a family event, we love to see whole families entering. We have a limited range of child sized Santa suits, please enquire when you collect your suits. All children under 5 can enter the Dash free of charge (No suit included – so come dressed festive as an elf, snowman, fairy or anything festive)!

Of course! If you are entering as a team, please call 01244 851811 to let us know. We’ll be trying to feature the Santa Team of the Week on both charities’ social media pages, so we need your details! Please give us the name of your team (if you have one!) and the names of all of the members. If you are raising sponsorship as a team, try setting up a Just Giving page – and make it clear you are taking part in the Dash.

We have no designated parking for participants on the day please use one of the local car parks around the city.

There will be water available for all participants at the end of the Dash, however, we would encourage you to bring your own water with you. The shops and cafes in town will be open when you finish if you require a hot drink.

We will have portable toilets available for all participants at the start of the Dash. These will be well signposted.

No, unfortunately there are no changing facilities at the start of the event. Please make sure you are suitably dressed for the Dash and please make sure you take the weather into account when getting ready the morning.

Please come and find our Information Point and ask one of our Santa Dash Team, hopefully they will be able to help. Please note, any child lost on the day will be taken to this point and will be looked after by our team.

Most definitely, the more the merrier!!
