The Hospice Welcomes New Team Member, Bethany
When she’s not out and about in the local community representing our brilliant hospice in her new role as Community Fundraiser, you’ll find Bethany Froud pursuing her passions for signing, acting, directing and teaching drama.
Beth has been on stage at some of the UK’s most iconic theatres including the historic Lyceum in Crewe, Manchester Opera House and the Coliseum in London’s famous West End.
She joined the fundraising team in April this year from her previous role in sales, marketing and events management.
As well as appearing in many plays and musicals including Annie and Oklahoma and the Rocky Horror Picture Show, Beth has also appeared onstage at the world-famous Globe theatre in London and has worked alongside acting legends including Benedict Cumberbatch and Taron Egerton.
She lives in Hoole with her partner Adma, and children Dylan, 14, and Dawn, aged 23 who is following in her mum’s footsteps and undertaking an MA degree in Acting and Drama at the University of Chester.
Beth’s big claim to fame was being accepted into the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) at the age of just 17.
“RADA was always my dream,” she commented. “It was so exciting and an incredible privilege to be offered a place but unfortunately I had to turn it down.”
Beth explained: “My mum had been ill for some years with a brain tumour and I wanted to be around to help and also to support dad. My younger brother needed looking after as well so I felt it was the right thing to do to turn down the opportunity.
“Despite that, I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to get as involved as I am in so many different aspects of acting and theatre life. I’m particularly proud with the success of The Nantwich Players studio theatre which I set up in 2017.
“At the All-England Theatre Festival this year, our group was crowned the Overall Winner, along with awards for Best Stage Presentation for the play I directed. We are now officially the English Champions and will go on to the British finals to face Scotland, Ireland and Wales in July.”
Beth added: “I’m really excited to be part of the hospice team – I know from first-hand experience with my mum just how valuable and valued the service of a hospice are, and I feel proud to be part of the team.”
