Our vision & philosophy

At the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, it is our vision & philosophy to:

  • Always aim to provide the highest quality and standards of specialist palliative care and services for patients, their families and carers
  • Ensure that financial resources are generated to ensure the existing services can be delivered and to secure future service provision and development
  • Ensure that resources within the organisation are effectively managed
  • Employ staff with the right skills and provide education, training and development as part of continuous improvement
  • As a specialist palliative end of life care provider, aim to incorporate education as a core service, recognising that a key function of the Hospice is providing education in palliative care to other health professionals
  • Focus upon the recruitment and retention of staff and volunteers, as this is crucial in ensuring that our aims can be met
  • Listen and respond to the opinions of patients, carers, the public, staff and other key stakeholders about what they want from us
  • In collaboration with NHS partners and other voluntary agencies, continue to identify unmet end of life care and support needs in our locality and develop strategies as appropriate to meet those needs
  • Plan, develop and deliver services in partnership with our local West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group and Countess of Chester Hospital, our local acute hospital and with Cheshire and Wirral Partnership.
