Hair Raising Challenge to support hospice!

A group of business men and women from Wirral Networx got together in February to raise funds for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd in a hair raising challenge at Zip World Velocity in Snowdonia.
The team of eleven, which included employees from NatWest Bank and APH Accountants, regularly meet as part of a business networking group organised by Daryl Vickers. The business representatives often support local charities through a number of organised fundraising events and have raised thousands of pounds over the past few years.
The challenge was not for the fainthearted as the Zip Wire Velocity is the fastest zip line in the world – reaching speeds well in excess of 100mph – and the longest in Europe. In addition to the adrenalin rush, the group were also treated to fantastic panoramic views from the Big Top of Velocity, out towards Anglesey with views of the Isle of Man on a clear day!
Phil Crawford, Community Fundraiser at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd who is a member of the Networx Business Group presented the Hospice plans for a £2.2 million ‘From Silver to Gold’ appeal that will double the size of the existing hospice and provide specialist care and support to local people facing end of life illnesses. Phil, the Hospice’s own Bear Grylls, who has previously taken part in overseas challenges such as the Grand Canyon and half marathons was delighted the group were up for such a high adrenalin adventure, he said, “The Hospice are fortunate to have the support of such a dedicated group of business people that are so supportive of the Hospice. It was a truly memorable experience and everybody really bonded well and are now keen to take on their next challenge!”
Daryl Vickers said, “The Hospice of the Good Shepherd has touched so many people’s lives in one way or another. Their plans to extend and continue to provide support for the next 25 years is commendable and we was delighted to be able to raise so much money for them. He added, “We always welcome new business people into Networx and alongside opportunities to talk business we also have a lot of fun whilst raising money for good causes.”
